Mayans MC: JD Pardo on the 'Brutal' Series Finale and Why It Was Time to End
The Fifth and Final Season Began Under a Flag of War
The fifth and final season of Mayans MC began under a flag of war, so it's not like anyone who'd stuck with the show could have been surprised by the brutal series finale. But that doesn't make it any easier to say goodbye to this complex, compelling, and often heart-wrenching drama.
'It Was Time to End'
In a recent interview with Variety, Mayans MC star JD Pardo, who plays club president EZ Reyes, shared his thoughts on the finale and why he believes it was time for the show to end.
"We Had to Be True to the Characters"
"We had to be true to the characters and the story," Pardo said. "And the story was always going to end in tragedy. These are guys who live a life of violence and crime. And that's not a life that can end well."
"It's a Testament to the Writers"
Pardo also praised the show's writers for their ability to craft such a powerful and resonant story.
"It's a testament to the writers that they were able to create a show that was so engaging and so emotionally resonant," he said. "I think fans will be really satisfied with the way the show ends."
