Fritz's victory in Tokyo was his third ATP title of the year, following wins in Indian Wells and Eastbourne.

The American has been in impressive form all season, reaching the quarterfinals of the Australian Open and the semifinals of Wimbledon.

With his victory in Tokyo, Fritz has moved up to 10th in the ATP rankings.

Despite the defeat, Tiafoe can be proud of his performance in Tokyo.

The American reached his first ATP final since 2019 and played some excellent tennis throughout the week.
