Mason Mount assist enough to see off wasteful City
Kai Havertz scored the only goal as Chelsea beat rivals Manchester City 1-0 to win the Champions League in Porto.
The Blues - who had lost the previous season's final 1-0 to Chelsea - reached half-time on level terms in Portugal despite relentless pressure from Pep Guardiola's City.
Chelsea went close twice through Timo Werner early on but it was City who controlled possession and came closest to taking the lead when Phil Foden struck a post via a deflection.
Havertz gave Chelsea the lead six minutes before half-time with a clinical finish after being played in by Mason Mount's defence-splitting pass.
The goal sparked City into life and they dominated the second half without managing to find an equaliser.
Chelsea, inspired by man-of-the-match N'Golo Kante, held on to claim their second Champions League title, ending Pep Guardiola's bid to lead his side to a first triumph in the competition.
The victory is Chelsea's first under Thomas Tuchel, who was appointed in January following the dismissal of Frank Lampard.
Tuchel masterminded a remarkable turnaround in west London, guiding them to the final and also lifting the FA Cup and finishing fourth in the Premier League.
