St Kilda Football Club To Be Known As Euro-Yroke For Sir Doug Nicholls Round
A Major Step For The Club's Yawa
St Kilda Football Club will be known as Euro-Yroke across this year's Sir Doug Nicholls Round, marking a major step in the club's yawa (journey).
The club announced the change on Wednesday, saying it was a "significant moment" in its history.
"This is a real honour for our club," St Kilda president Andrew Bassat said.
"Sir Doug Nicholls was a trailblazer for Indigenous Australians, and we are proud to acknowledge his legacy by taking on his name for this important round."
The club will wear a specially designed guernsey for the match, which will feature the Euro-Yroke name and colours.
The guernsey was designed by St Kilda player Bradley Hill, who is a proud Gunditjmara man.
"I'm really proud to have been involved in the design of this guernsey," Hill said.
"It's a beautiful guernsey that represents our club and our culture."
St Kilda will take on Collingwood in the Round 2 blockbuster at the MCG on Saturday, March 19.
