Soren, born on August 10, 1975, is a prominent politician from Jharkhand and the son of former state Chief Minister Shibu Soren.
He has been the Chief Minister of Jharkhand since July 4, 2024, and is the leader of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM).
Arrest and Charges
The ED arrested Soren after several hours of questioning at its Ranchi office.
He is accused of involvement in the illegal allotment of mining leases and the subsequent laundering of proceeds from these activities.
Challenging the Allegations
After his arrest, Soren challenged the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the ED to produce any evidence against him.

Release on Bail
On February 5, 2024, Soren was released on bail after furnishing a bond of Rs 50,000 with two sureties of a similar amount.
He was released from Birsa Munda Jail in Ranchi after spending five months in custody.
