Serie A: Lazio beats Verona 2-0, Immobile scores 100th goal

Lazio moved into the top six of Serie A with a comfortable 2-0 win over Hellas Verona on Monday.

Ciro Immobile scored his 100th goal for the club to put Lazio ahead after 14 minutes and Pedro added a second just after the hour mark.

The victory lifted Lazio to sixth place in the standings with 37 points from 20 games, one point ahead of Verona, who dropped to ninth.

Lazio took the lead when Immobile latched onto a through ball from Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and fired a low shot into the bottom corner.

The hosts doubled their advantage in the 65th minute when Pedro collected a pass from Immobile and curled a shot into the far corner.

Verona had a chance to get back into the game when they were awarded a penalty in the 75th minute, but Gianluca Caprari saw his spot-kick saved by Lazio goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha.

Lazio held on for the win to secure their fourth victory in their last five league games.
